To say the critically acclaimed independent New York film outfit Palangi Studios took a big blow last year would be an understatement – it was burnt right down to the ground, it doesn’t get any worse than that. But somehow, defying all odds, recording artist and owner of the studio Frank Palangi is somehow picking up the pieces and breathing new life into the film and music recording and editing studio that once brought so much joy to many, completely independently and with limited budgets for close to a decade. This week, on the 10th of January “Scream Resurrection”, a new short film by the studio was released. It is available to stream and download free on YouTube and popular video streaming platforms.

Independent solo rock star, guitar tutor, actor, film director, film producer, music producer, songwriter; Frank Palangi is an artist and entertainer whose creativity knows no bounds. On any given day, you could find him rocking the socks off unsuspecting fans at a local live music venue; blowing away crowds at a local community event; kicking off a local sporting event at one of New York’s big arenas with his signature national anthem performance that is now highly sort after; recording a hit, writing or doing backing vocals with a new or established rock band that needs a fresh, exciting sound; playing online gigs; shooting a movie and working both in front of and behind the cameras; or in a bad neighborhood fighting crime late at night when even Jesus wouldn’t go outside. Frank is one of those artists who is so resourceful it is hard to ever see him standing still - he’s either coming or going. We don't know if the case is the same with the ladies (ie. either cumming or going), hopefully he's a gentleman who stays to cuddle. This week, Covid-19 changed all that as it did for almost everyone in the world and consequently his schedule has been freed up a little bit, with several gigs either cancelled or postponed. So what’s he up to now? Well, he has just confirmed that he’s finishing up a movie project he’s been working on for a while now titled John Connor. TRICK OR TREAT

To many, Frank Palangi is known simply as one of the most exciting and amazing new classic rock musicians out of the East Coast in a very long time, and time and time again he defies the expectations of fans and leaves them blown away whether live or recorded. He is also one of the most prolific indie artists out there. His gigging schedule is now growing almost exponentially and it will soon be impossible to go anywhere in New York without seeing a flyer or poster with his name on it. But Brooklyn, New York's favorite independent rock star wears many hats. He's also a guitar tutor, a session musician, and an actor and filmmaker with a good number of independent films under his belt. Palangi Studios, his film production outfit is quickly becoming known for its short horror films and it is always a hit at Halloween, which is fast approaching. On the 12th of October Frank released his latest film "Trick Or Treat", the second instalment in his new horror film series, "Anthology" which began back in May with the release of the first part, "The Curse II". All Frank's films are available to stream free on the Palangi Studios YouTube channel.

Mr. Omar is an independent web series that is quickly gaining traction in New York. Written and directed by independent rock star, Frank Palangi from Brooklyn, it's horror film about mysterious hauntings and the myth of a man called Mr. Omar. If you don't like to wet your pants, don't watch it. The 5th part in the series, "Day Dream" was released on the 20th of June and is free to stream on YouTube and popular video streaming platforms.

HARD HEAD MAKES SOFT A**ES

Last time we checked in with KC Jockey he was working with Sean Paul on a commercial for a club. The two first met back in 2002. When Sean made his international breakthrough with the release of his second album, "Dutty Rock", KC, who had only recently started his record label, Sweet Sadie's Productions quickly seized the opportunity to be first to book Sean Paul's first ever US concert as an international artist. The gig took place at the Albany Manor Hall in Brooklyn, New York.

KC is an artist who is always working. He's one of those artists you'll never find standing still. Apart from being an exceptional reggae singer, songwriter, producer and record label owner, KC jockey is also a philanthropist, an actor and a concert promoter, and never shies away from new ventures in the entertainment industry. The independent Jamaican star, who is based in Brooklyn, New York released his latest single, "Love In The Air" to critical acclaim in both mainstream and independent circles in Jamaica, in the US and even internationally, and shortly after embarked on a radio promo tour to promote the record while also shooting an official music video and juggling other projects. His latest project is an independent film titled "Hard Head Makes Soft A**es" (unconfirmed). KC is known to always keep fans updated with what he's doing with ample behind the scenes clips so we are expecting a lot of them from the movie set. ZERO ONE

Seoul's critically acclaimed electronic rock music duo, Love X Stereo released their first single of 2019, "Zero One" on the 14th of February. The single was created for the soundtrack of a new independent film by New York based American screenwriter and director, Nick Neon who was born in Korea. The short drama, also titled "Zero One" was released late last year and is currently riding high at film festivals in South Korea as well as in the US, and gaining a lot of attention internationally. Right from their very debut, "Buzzin" which is still hailed as one of the most innovative independent music releases this decade, Love X Stereo has enjoyed widespread popularity in both independent and mainstream circles and everything they touch seems to turn to gold. The track has received high praises and critics are once again calling it their best work even after their last album, "37B" was said to be the peak of all peaks for any band of its kind. The official video for the song premiered on the same day and is available to stream free on YouTube.

ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK

Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Frank Palangi has always been a versatile and unpredictable solo artist capable of pleasing even the most discerning of rock music fans. From Jimi Hendrix style guitar instrumentation to more mellow and simple riffs, Frank does it all. His lyrics are most often described as positive. He writes songs that are not just true to reality but also comforting to hear. 2018 was an amazing year for Frank both live and recorded. ADULT HUMANS AT THE 2018 CATSKILL INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

He has quickly become one of the most popular new actors on the US East Coast in independent cinema and has already scored a good number of roles on mainstream television and in theatres as well. Saiah is an emerging actor and R&B singer from Brooklyn, New York. Atlanta independent (indie) reggae artist, Lion Tafari has been thriving on the underground music scene for a while now, and is constantly being celebrated for his invaluable contributions to not just ATL's independent reggae music scene, but the US reggae scene as a whole. With tracks like "Ghetto Youth Balling" and "Remember the Dayz" released a few years back, Lion won over the hearts of reggae music critics and fans and has been closely watched by the industry. His sound is not just unique in his genre but also stands out creatively and lyrically when compared with other closely related urban genres like hip hop. His song, "Ghetto Youth Balling" is being featured in a noteable upcoming independent film titled "Consequences". It's uncertain whether Lion himself will play a role in the movie but fans are keeping their fingers crossed and holding on to their seats for his next update. Lion has been behind the scenes working on his music for a while now and has new releases on the way but release dates are yet to be announced. He is very active on his local reggae scene so fans can easily catch him performing live at popular local live music venues all year round.
