I want to talk about a touchy subject today, before we get into this news story but I have a feeling you’re not going to like it. In fact I know you’re not going to like it at all. I can tell you’re already cringing slightly. It’s a dirty subject many male rappers are talking about too openly for comfort nowadays and one that dirty female rappers have started talking about openly too. In the spirit of keeping things clean (ironically), let’s use the phrase “Fellatio of the buttocks” - yeah I said it! And heck yeah, I went there, I brought it up. And we are going to sit down right here right now and discuss it once and for all. 

Now, I understand you didn’t come here to discuss this and probably wouldn’t do it under normal circumstances but it’s an issue that’s been bothering me and I really wanted to get it off my chest so my mind can rest. Why are the youth going to these lengths to please their spouses? Would you respect your spouse if they ate your ass on a Monday? Oops!! I said it, darn 😊 (I meant to say "tossed your salad on a Monday", that sounds so much more elegant doesn't it? Like they had a napkin and everything, he-he-he). On a Monday, and it wasn’t even your birthday, or Christmas; you didn’t get a promotion or just get out of prison, nothing; they just did that and then got up a few hours later and went to work with that filthy filthy mouth. Would you still kiss them the same way? Okay I think it’s off my chest now. I’ve realised why it was bothering me so much. And I’ll tell you. 

As a writer, their could be no greater sense of achievement than creating your very own word and getting it into the Oxford dictionary; and this very moment I realised my calling – to come up with a socially acceptable word for “Fellatio of the buttocks” - as I'll start calling it now in the meantime, and a word for people who like to indulge in it too. OMG I’m so excited, words are popping into my head already. How does “Butt”er Love sound? Or wait, wait how about Brown Cherry Pie? Or Brown Berry? Or Brown Cherry? Or wait, Pink Eye Pie? No wait, Stinky Pinky - nah, that’s too strong. Dirty Brownie? What about Anal"eat"ics? Oh snap, I’ve got it – Analogy. Oh darn that’s a word already, would have been spot on though. How about Where’d-Dis-Corn-Come-From (as one word, i.e. Whereddiscorncomefrom - clever ey? No?). LOL, why do these all sound like cocktails? He-he-he, never mind anyway. I’ll make sure you are first to know once I’ve figured it out. And you better not steal my idea 😊. Just kidding, I trust you. Alright let’s get serious now, back to the main story of the day. Let’s get our minds out of the gutter and focus. You ready? You’re gonna love it. And you know, it was really exciting brainstorming with you just now, we should do it again sometime. 

There's been news about a new Honorebel album in the works but nothing is final yet. A few dates were mentioned, which have now passed, there was even talk of a title "444", but nothing so far. A series of exciting new singles have however been surfacing and building the buzz surrounding the critically acclaimed independent Miami, Florida reggae music sensation once again, and fans and die-hard reggae music critics - who, more often than not find it hard to find anything to criticize; are getting really excited about the possibility of a new album on the way. Among the several collaborative projects with award-winning world-renowned artists, the single "Can't Let Go", his latest work with Los Angeles, California rapper Snoop Dogg is really causing a lot of pandemonium and is proving to be one of the top independent summer reggae anthems this year. It's been just over 6 years since the pair last worked together, on the track "Lift Me Up", back in 2016. It was the cherry on top of the highly anticipated and subsequently critically acclaimed album, “Above The Noise”, and one of the records that cut across the most genre boundaries than most of his songs even after countless critically acclaimed collaborations with some of the world’s biggest music stars over the years. Featuring two world-renowned heavyweights in the music business, Wayne Wonder, the Jamaican reggae star who made a name for himself internationally with the release of the album, "No Holding Back" under the Atlantic Records imprint and solidified his position with songs like "Hold Me Now", "Gonna Love You", "For My Love (featuring Trina)" and "Let Me Love You Tonight", just to name a few; and Ricky Ross, the Mississippi-born Miami-raised hip hop star who made his name in the US and then subsequently internationally with the release of the critically acclaimed single, “Hustlin”; “All Over” was a single that didn’t stand a chance of not being a hit. Music would be a lot less exciting and compelling to listen to without the DJs and radio hosts whose very task it is to deliver it to us. Whether you are staying in for a quiet time, heading out to the clubs for a wild night to remember or going to a quiet bar or lounge for a drink you'll find that there is a DJ somewhere making sure your ears are pleased, the mood is right and everyone has that unshakable urge to get up on their feet and shake something. DJs are one of the reasons many artists ever make it big, they are the reason some of us are able to keep up with emerging trends in the fast-moving music industry and they are the reason many if not all of us can be sure we'll never have a dull day. To cut a long story short, without DJs music fans would have to do a lot more work not just to discover new music but also to enjoy it. We'll have to put together our own music playlists every single time we need to hear something different from what's in our music collections, we'll have to keep fiddling with our music players while driving, and we'll even have to work the old jukebox (or the new iPad/tablet jukeboxes) whenever we go out to our local watering holes, racking our brains to find out what the title of that amazing song or artist is when all we wanted to do was have a good time and quit thinking even if only for a few hours. Sure, now we have Spotify and automatic digital music delivery services used in shops and malls but nothing will ever compare to having a good old DJ that knows what to play and exactly when to play it - something Spotify's algorithms may never really get the hang of. So now that we have explained why they are so important let's get right down to it shall we? REBELLING AGAINST THE STATUS QUO

Being different is one sure way to make it in any industry more so than ever before, especially in entertainment. Standing out from the crowd, and being recognisable sonically and visually are a must and any act that fails to meet any of those requirements could only have a short lived career at best, if it ever gets off the ground at all. Sadly, that seems to be the case today with many popular genres of music especially hip hop and pop. Many acts are sounding alike and with today's overpopulated music scenes that are seeing thousands of new and independent/indie/DIY artists, bands and producers emerge daily it won't be long before their names are forgotten or their songs and albums have been buried at the bottom of a rapidly growing pile of similar sounds. Too much of anything could become a problem sometimes so no matter how good a sound is no one wants to hear it being recreated and reinvented over and over by different artists. But there are artists out there who still strive to be different, not just sonically, visually and stylistically but in other aspects of their careers as well. Miami, US reggae artist, Honorebel is one of them. From his sound to the way he handles his business, it's hard to find anyone with even vague similarities. He has been thriving in the world of reggae independently since he made his debut several years ago back in Jamaica. He started his own record label, Phantom Music Group in the early days of his career and has built a huge repertoire of music with more chart-topping records than even some mainstream artists. KC Jockey is one of the hardest working independent reggae artists New York has ever seen. Hailing from Brooklyn, he was born in Jamaica and his sound is a unique blend of pop, R&B and reggae. He is also an actor with a good number of independent film roles under his belt. His latest single, "Love In The Air" has just over 7.5 million plays on Soundcloud. BMG artist, Blanco Brown who recently made his debut and hit number 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart with the single, "The Git Up" hails from Atlanta and has produced songs for Chris Brown and Pitbull. His sound is an exciting blend of country and rap music. "The Git Up" currently has just over 20 million streams on Spotify. This week the two announced that they'll be teaming up to work on a record. FLAUNT THAT

This week, as the release of his highly anticipated forthcoming album, "Above The Noise" draws closer and closer, independent Miami reggae artist, Honorebel released a little behind the scenes clip to let fans know what's coming next just shortly after a series of exciting pre-album releases which feature a host of stars including Lil Nas, Ed Sheeran, Chance The Rapper and Justin Bieber. It's the music video for "Flaunt That" featuring Tory Lanez and produced by Uganda's superproducer, Herbert Skillz. Look out for "Above The Noise" in stores this summer. [Watch clip below]

It's his first full length solo project in a while, and as the buzz for the Miami, US independent reggae star's forthcoming album, "Above The Noise" reaches astronomical levels ahead of its release late July, Honorebel has released the first single, "Sauce Boss". With several collaborative projects still topping international dancehall and reggae charts, the single was released on the 9th of June along with 3 other collaborative records - "Weed Head" featuring Lil Nas, "Cross Me" featuring Ed Sheeran, Chance The Rapper and PNB Rock, and "Jealousy" featuring Herbert Skillz who is also featured on the new single.
