Music industry update | New York, USA | Indie artist, Frank Palangi

I thank you for coming here to celebrate this wonderful day with me. You could be anywhere on the internet right now but you chose to be here with me, to share this special moment - me writing and you reading. I'm all warm and tingly inside right now. I'm so excited to have you here. You're so amazing. Thanks for that.

"What are we celebrating today and why is this such a wonderful day?", I sense you are asking. And I'll tell you. Every day is wonderful, every day is special, and every day must be celebrated. Don't ask why, just believe me, mkay? Good girl ("patting you on the head").

Okay let's get started.

To be honest with you, you're not gonna like this article very much. I just got back from holiday and everything in the real world now kind of sort of totally sucks ass!! Where are all the tanned, muscular, well hung oiled up men in mankinis bringing me really dirty martinis and rubbing sunscreen on my buttocks? Oops!! I mean my back. Where's all the sunshine? Why is nobody coming to massage me when I ring the bell? Why isn't someone checking to see if I've finished my martini? Where the F* is my chariot? WHAT THE HELL'S GOING ON TODAY, HUH?!!!

OMG I'm sorry...

"Deep breaths, deep breaths..."

I totally almost lost it there, but I'm good now.

But that's not just why you probably won't like this article.. The other reason is because, like many of the articles I write it's got a lot of sex stuff in it. Well not a lot, but enough to make you cringe a little bit. I've been getting so many complaints from the editors. Some of them even have Cardi B's "Freak" song blaring through their office speakers and are watching Nicki Minaj eat bananas really slowly on MTV while they're telling me that sh*t - can you believe it? What a bunch of hypocrites right?

Many of my readers too complain about the same thing and I tell them plainly, “if you find it disgusting or offensive, just stop reading it!”. Yet time and time again, they come back here with that Britney Spears song “Ooops!! I Did It Again” playing in the back of their minds and they don’t even know it. I never liked the title of that song – seemed like something someone who mistakenly pooped in their pants would say. I’ve been hearing it everywhere I go lately, I think my following must be growing, he-he-he (cha-ching!!).

Just for the record, I'm a lady okay? I've never eaten a banana, I don't have any tattoos, I always wear a bra and I change my tampons very regularly. I know you feel like you didn't need to know the last part, sorry – you’ll discover why I said it later.

I met Jay-Z last night after a concert and was about to take a picture with him when he threw up that dirty sign that Millennial boys make with their hands when they are, em ... in the words of Charlie Harper, "barbecuing alone". I jumped back and screamed out loud, "man! get that thing out of the air before one of these nasty teenagers comes over here and tries to put their willie in it or something!". He totally didn't understand and just looked at me like a total weirdo as I backed away quickly and fearfully, looking around frantically like I had just seen a ghost or something. I admit I overreacted a little bit. It's just that I have nightmares about Millennials all the time and they never end well. As I backed away with my hands frantically feeling around behind me to make sure I didn't bump into anything, I bumped into Beyoncé and my hand mistakenly felt around her crotch area. I apologised and left quickly. I'm not gay, but I totally didn't hate that last part at all...

Okay I loved it alright?! It was Beyoncé for God's sake. Sue me!!

At this point I can sense that you have become curious. You've put your hands in the air like Jay does and then gradually moved it towards your crotch area and made a jerking back and forth motion or two to try to get the picture. I can also sense that you've got a smile on your face now, you can't believe you just did that and are looking around to make sure no one saw you. You are slightly disgusted and embarrassed that you entertained the idea, but you totally get it now. Remember those guys at the gym that had one arm that looked like Popeye after he had eaten spinach and the other arm that looked like it needed work? Yep, they'd been doing it wrong all along. You don't see many of them around anymore do you? Why do you think that is so? They've been listening to Jay-z - They know! Now you know too. I had to find out the hard way after walking in on one of my interns while he was practicing the same technique late at the office one night when he thought everyone had gone home. And no, he doesn't work here anymore. Consider yourself lucky to have learned about it the easy way, by me telling you. You're welcome!

See? I’m not all bad. You might think I’m rambling about disgusting things sometimes but there is always a moral of the story (or two) written down on a piece of paper in front of me when I write and they will reveal themselves when you least expect it. Would you like to know what is written down on the piece of paper in front of me today? Of course you do. And I’ll tell you. I’ve got a blue sticky note in front of me. The text on the sticky note reads, “A man without a smile shouldn’t open a shop”. And it’s got a smiley face at the bottom of it. It's a saying Chinese people say. It sounds better in Chinese. (Coming to think of it, it seems like everything sounds better in Chinese. Hmn... 🤔)

To cut a long story short, my goal today was to make you smile so that you can attract prosperity and all the good things you deserve so much because you're so awesome. I think you did when you put Jay’s sign in your crotch and imagined you were a teenage boy who just logged onto Pornhub after a hard day's work swiping and double tapping and doing dirty things with strangers all over the neighbourhood with Tinder. But guess what? There’s a second sticky note underneath. I won’t tell you what’s written on it yet, or if in fact there is anything written on it. Oh by the way, did you know what that sign Jay-z makes with his hands means? Of course you do, but I’ll tell you anyway – it’s the all-seeing eye, the third eye. If you didn’t know, well now you know. Too bad I just told you what Millennials are doing with it – now every time you go into alpha mode you’d have to first annihilate any notorious imaginings of horny teenagers trying to stick their willies in your eye ‘cos they’ve run out of good places to put it, he-he-he. Oops!! Sorry.

Anyway where were we?

Ah yes, the independent music news story of the day. I know – finally, right?

After just over a year since the release of his latest record - the critically acclaimed self-titled 6 track EP, Frank Palangi V; New York independent solo rock sensation Frank Palangi has announced the release date of his next project. In this new age of the music industry when fans start to desperately crave new music by their favourite artist as little as a day after new music by their favourite artist is released, it is very welcome news.  One year is a very long time to wait for a new record nowadays, in fact it almost feels like it’s been ten years.  I’ve been following this story closely and checking my emails for updates so long that I started to hear that rock anthem “I Predict a Riot” by Kaiser Cheifs playing in the back of my head every time I checked and found nothing. Are music fans getting too aggressive with their insatiable desires for louder sounds and demands for new music? Do you feel like they are the ones destroying the music industry? To be honest with you, I think so; but who am I to judge? I am old school, I only want good music, not just any music. That’s why I follow Frank and I never listen to Kanye West. Well now you know, there’s a new track on the way – you’re happy, I’m happy, everybody wins. Happy, happy, happy, happy, happy! The new song, which is titled “Fall From Grace” is scheduled for release around the end of March and will be available to pre-save and pre-order on Spotify and Apple Music two weeks before the official release date. The specific dates will be provided as they become available.

Now, would you like to know what was written on that second sticky note I spoke of earlier on in the article? Of course you do. And here it goes: “good things come to those who wait”. I know, “WTF” right? All this knowledge in one day, sheesh!!!

But seriously, I’m not just telling you that because you were patient and got the good news about the new independent rock release you’d been waiting for. I’m telling you this for a bigger purpose. Sometime during the course of your day, week or even month; maybe even later in the year, you’ll be presented with a crucial opportunity to exercise patience. You’ll be ready because I've prepared you, and you’ll get that thing you’ve been asking for. Your third eye - your all-seeing eye, asked me to send you this message.

And oh, lest I forget - I didn’t really meet Jay-z and Beyoncé last night. It was a group of new (but really good) rappers I met that for some reason decided to throw up the sign. I’ve never met Jay-z, but I knew you'd get the picture quicker if I said it was him.

I need to change my tampon now. Oops!! I mean powder my nose. All this talk about Beyoncé has got me soaked to be honest. I'm not gay I promise. My favourite Beyoncé Christmas song is "Put a Sock On It", that's totally not gay.

 Have a wonderful day.

Music industry update | New York, USA | Indie artist, Frank Palangi

I recently discovered that Indians talk too fast for me to understand in normal everyday conversation. Does that make me racist in this utterly sensitive and overly-censored, algorithm governed world we live in today where everyone is tiptoeing around everyone's feelings. Ooops!! I mean everyone’s Tweets? Am I even allowed to say those words to anybody? I’m sure there is someone reading this with raised eye brows right now, 😊. Sorry if I have offended you already so early in what seemed like such a promising news story, I'm notorious for doing that. In fact if I have, you’d better stop reading now because I’m pretty sure I’ll do it again. I’m going somewhere with this, don’t worry, and you’ll see I wasn’t being racist.

The other day, one of my colleagues asked for my signature. But he didn’t just say, “hey, could you sign here please”, or whatever normal people would say in a normal world. No, not in these crazy times when nothing is normal anymore and words don’t mean what they should anymore – darn millennials and their internet slang! They ruined EVERYTHING!

The words that met my ears were “let me have your hand on my cock please”. “What?!”, I bellowed out angrily and followed with several bad words in disgust and told him to F* the F* off before I put my big ass Kanye West boots in his you know what. “How dare he?!”, I thought to myself. I didn’t know who it was that said that because I had my back turned as I worked frantically at whatever deadline I had looming at the time - I did not meet it by the way, and no, I wasn't sorry. No, not because I'm a total ass, but because I tried my best and that's all that counts (isn't it?). Anyway, before turning around I added to my thoughts, “It'd better be Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt or George Clooney or Taylor Swift that’s saying that sh*t to me on a Monday morning”. Not like I was going to do it but because anyone else would have gotten Will Smithed straight away – and in a proper way, not like a sissy, and I wouldn’t cry after doing it like a big ass baby. So anyway I turned around with a stern look and noticed the piece of paper and the pen being handed to me then I put two and two together and furnished it with an Indian accent in my head and realised that what I really heard was “let me have your John Hancock please”.

I know, phew! right?

But anyway, my point was… wait, what was my point again?

Ah yes, that it's perfectly normal for people to express their concerns about things so that matters can be discussed openly and properly like adults instead of bottling it all up and exploding in someone's face like a 13 year old's first 3 seconds of a Cardi B video. I admit my reaction was a bit harsh but it was a Monday morning and I was still loaded on all the whisky and other amazing stuff God put on this fine earth for you and me (wink, wink, wink). Later, I went over to his desk, apologised and explained to him that he spoke too fast for me to understand most of the time; and then proceeded to sign his cock. Oops!! I mean give him my John Hancock, he-he-he. The next day when I got into the office I was met with boos and people threw balled up papers at me calling me a racist scum bag, can you believe that sh*t?

Anyway, I just thought I’d get that off my chest to see what everyone else thinks because I’ve been feeling really bad about it. I’m not a racist and I’d like to take this opportunity to apologise for my comments because I clearly offended everybody. I also kindly ask that whoever is doing it should stop drawing willies on my computer monitor and putting big black dildos on my chair, which I accidentally sit on every single time. Not cool guys, not cool.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get right down to the music news story of the day

As you may (or may not know), Frank Palangi, New York’s independent rock sensation is also a film maker, screenwriter, podcaster, producer, engineer, vocal coach, guitar tutor, songwriter and actor; and he has recently added the title of radio show host to his resume after securing his own show on the popular UK radio station Radio Wigwam. The show has quickly gained popularity among die hard indie music fans and continues to grow, with bigger and bigger guests being invited every subsequent episode to discuss their music careers. The next episode, which is scheduled for the 24th of January at 8 PM GMT, features critically acclaimed singer Matt Walst, famous for being a member of the popular bands Three Days of Grace and My Darkest Days.

Office parties are so much fun but I’ve decided to stop attending. People always seem to confide in me when they’ve been drinking, even the ones I’ve never spoken to, in fact, especially the ones I’ve never spoken to. They tell me things about themselves I never wanted to know about anybody; and for some reason, nowadays, it’s either about sex, drugs or rock ‘n roll – and I hate rock ‘n roll. Well, not so much rock ’n roll as I do rock stars. They all seem so arrogant and stern, at least the old school ones – they think they own the modern music industry and everything music. And maybe they do, but they need to come to terms with the fact that there are other genres now – everybody can’t be the next Jimi Hendrix okay, just deal with it. Like that Todd Rundgren guy who was quick to call Kanye West a dilettante, he-he-he, what a word right? When I first heard it I immediately assumed it meant lunatic for some reason. Kanye’s not a dilettante, a little crazy sometimes maybe but certainly not a dilettante. I bet you too would be a little crazy after "tasting Ray Jay’s chicken" and realizing you’ll never be able to get that taste out of your mouth 😊. Take some time to decipher what I meant by tasting Ray Jay's chicken here... Take all the time you need, don't worry, I'll wait...

Got it?

Okay I was just kidding alright? I love Kim and I'm not bi or gay or curious or anything but I'm pretty darn sure I'd totally taste it too, after a few too many drinks on a good night out obviously, not in my right mind - and not the chicken obviously, the henhouse. There, I said it. Wait, do you need time to decipher that too? Okay, take your time...

Anyway, back to the story…

At our last office party someone sat down beside me while I was in a very pensive Jack Daniel’s moment,  pondering softly about absolutely nothing and staring into a half empty glass (oops!! half full I mean 😁) with an untouched can of Coke in the distance and a half full bottle of Jack that I had pushed even further away in disgust as if rebuking it a few minutes prior. I didn’t make eye contact in hopes that she would go away and not disturb my moment of peace but she moved really close and whispered into my ear in a very remorseful voice -  “OMG, I’ve been so bad”. My immediate response was “Oh my God, who gives a f***?”. I didn’t say it to her but I was thinking it. I hoped my lack of response would make her go away but she continued – “Last night my daughter asked me for some advice about boys and I told her to forget about boys and just kiss girls”. She quickly proceeded to explain – “You know, I don’t want anyone sticking their filthy willie in my little princess; but I wouldn’t mind someone tossing her salad a little bit every now and again”. It totally made sense but I was still listening to her through my peripheral and not making eye contact to signal that I wasn’t interested even though she immediately gained my full attention when she said just kiss girls. She faded away into the distance and all I could think was “Wait, don’t leave; you smell so good”. I even tried to say it telepathically too, but it didn't work. To cut a long story short, I ended up pulling the half empty bottle of Jack back to me to fill the hole that awesome-smelling stranger left behind. To be honest I’m still a little aroused and I wish I could find her. Again, I must stress that I'm not bi or gay or curious or anything - I just like being around people that smell really good and make me feel warm and tingly inside when I'm drinking, I wasn't planning to kiss her or anything. 12 hours later, and I’m here, writing to you, my number one fan. You make everything better. Yes, you - you’re so awesome.

Now let’s get right down to Frank Palangi’s pedals, shall we. Oh and sorry to disappoint you but when I said "Frank's Best Peds" I was referring to pedals not Performance Enhancing Drugs, which I know absolutely nothing about and will never use (wink, wink, wink).

Frank's famous words, “No Plan B” still ring true over 10 years since the start of his illustrious independent music career, and even after suffering a massive setback just over 9 months ago when his home recording studio was mysteriously struck by lightning and burnt to the ground, New York’s sensational indie rock superstar is still showing no signs of giving up. Sure, it may sound like something out of a movie, but it really happened – and heck no, it wasn’t a publicity stunt to promote his latest single at the time “Fire of Love”. Yep, the fire happened shortly after the release of his latest single at the time “Fire of Love”. He’s been re-building the studio one instrument at a time and recently started using the opportunity to introduce each crucial item to his loyal fan base as they arrive so that they can get an insight into some of the magic that happens behind the scenes and some of the gadgets that make it all happen.

This week we had the pleasure of meeting Frank’s new peds, the Dept. 10 dual distortion pedals by Blackstar, a British company formed in 2007 that is now hailed as being one of the world’s most innovative guitar amp brands by some of the world’s greatest musicians and bands. Frank, who is now endorsed by the company as one of it’s officially supported acts, told fans that he has been using Blackstar cabinets, tube pedals and amp heads since 2016. So there you have it, some more insight into the life and times of one of the most successful rising, completely independent New York musicians of all time.

It's been a pleasure to have you here again. More soon...

And have a wonderful day...

By the way, do you know you can help Frank in rebuilding his recording studio? Yes, you can, everyone's doing it. Just head over to his website for details, the link is available below.

Music industry update | New York, USA | Indie artist, Frank Palangi

If there is anything the music industry has taught us over the years, even as far back as the ’30s when the modern Western music business was born and records replaced sheet music as the core product in the industry; it’s that you can’t keep a good musician down.

Making a hit record is just as tough as it is to make a living from music, but you can’t have one without the other and they are both pretty darn exhausting tasks to pursue at the same time no matter how amazing you are at multitasking, time management, anger management and pretending you haven't slept in 24 hours. Some artists make it look easier than others but in reality, every artist has his trials and tribulations. So don’t scratch your head trying to figure out why your favorite country or pop artist has started hanging out with rappers and is now 420 friendly and twerking; or why Kanye West makes shoes that look like balled up homework or old chewing gum wrapped around peoples’ feet and thinks they are cool; or why Wiz Khalifa smokes so much weed you’d start to wonder whether putting both hands around his own neck and choking himself intermittently while eating a Range Rover's ass would make more sense; or why everyone seems to have a huge bottle of really strong cough syrup in their bag when they’re not sick – there all going through some serious stuff. Sure, everyone of us goes through stuff, but doing it in the spotlight is 1000 times harder, so hard in fact that some people advocate that one must be crazy to be a true entertainer. What?! Who is saying that? You didn’t hear it here okay? Moving on.

One such musician who is refusing to stay down is New York indie rock star Frank Palangi, who, as you may already know, was the victim of a house fire mid/late last year and is slowly but surely starting to get back on his feet and rebuilding his studio one instrument at a time with help from fans, supporters, sponsors and fellow musicians. Frank has returned to gigging regularly on StageIt, more so than ever before in fact, as many musicians have done since the advent of the pandemic. It’s keeping him close to his fast-growing loyal fanbase and drawing in new crowds, but most importantly, it's raising the funds needed to rebuild his studio. His last virtual event was on the 14th of January and there are more scheduled for 2022. See all upcoming virtual concert dates and get tickets on the Skunk Radio Live Events page.

PS: If you rushed here from a social media post on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or wherever you get you mind polluted, that was titled "Are They Real?" and you were expecting to have seen some really big boobies by now - shame on you. The title was referring to the idea of "virtual concerts" i.e. if they are virtual, then are they really real? You know, since virtual means; well, not real. But don't worry, keep following us on social media and we'll show you boobies - we love them too, they're awesome 😙

To say the critically acclaimed independent New York film outfit Palangi Studios took a big blow last year would be an understatement – it was burnt right down to the ground, it doesn’t get any worse than that. But somehow, defying all odds, recording artist and owner of the studio Frank Palangi is somehow picking up the pieces and breathing new life into the film and music recording and editing studio that once brought so much joy to many, completely independently and with limited budgets for close to a decade. This week, on the 10th of January “Scream Resurrection”, a new short film by the studio was released. It is available to stream and download free on YouTube and popular video streaming platforms.

Music industry update | New York, USA | Indie singer songwriter, Frank Palangi

It was a tough year for many, if not all of us last year; but even a little tougher for New York independent solo rock sensation Frank Palangi, who, in the middle of it all suffered the loss of his prestigious home recording studio, Palangi Studios in a house fire. Over the years, the studio hosted a plethora of memorable virtual concerts, live streaming events, web series and podcasts; and in addition to being where he recorded most of his music, it was also where Frank, who is also an actor and film director, produced several short films. With the support of fans and fellow musicians he has started putting some of the pieces back together and is now gearing up to start releasing new music and short films in full force again. At the beginning of the year he announced the completion of his first project since his home was mysteriously struck by lightning and burnt down to the ground just over 6 months ago, shortly after the release of his latest single at the time, “Fire of Love”. “Frank Palangi EP V”, which went live for pre-order on Amazon Music during the first week of January ahead of its release on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and all popular digital music streaming and download platforms, was officially released on the 28th of January.

Back in June, critically acclaimed indie rock sensation Frank Palangi released what has been called his most exciting record to date. Hailed left, right and center by even the most discerning rock music critics and fans, it was one of several highly anticipated tracks that the fast-rising independent rock star, who made his debut just over a decade ago, has released this year; and a record that according to many could be the “big one” that could end up catapulting him into the big leagues alongside top rock artists and bands like Day of Fire, who he worked with in the early days of his illustrious indie music career.

Sadly, just over 2 weeks after the release of the record, the New York star’s music recording studio was hit by lightning and burned down to the ground. Financial support and well wishes immediately started pouring in from fans; and fellow musicians have even hosted benefit concerts and created crowdfunding campaigns to help. Frank has also recently set up a crowdfunding campaign of his own and is appealing to fans and supporters to donate to help his rebuild his studio. Please visit Frank Palangi on Go Fund Me and if you can’t donate share the campaign with friends so that word can get out there and we can sooner rather than later see this highly promising independent rock star back in the studio recording again and playing his part in keeping real rock music in its most intrinsic form alive in his very special way. Defying all odds, New York singer songwriter Frank Palangi released the music video for his critically acclaimed 2019 single “Dead Man” right on schedule on the 6th of August, 2021, even after the tragic incident at his Brooklyn home which left his recording studio burnt down to the ground. According to Frank, the video was luckily already in post-production at the time and hence its release and the release of a few other projects that were in the works at the time were unaffected. Frank is currently still residing at a nearby New York hotel, where he is hosting live gigs sporadically. There are multiple crowdfunding campaigns running simultaneously to help him buy new studio equipment and rebuild his recording studio - some set up by fans; some by fellow musicians, music industry professionals and friends; and one official campaign which he started himself. You can support Frank Palangi by donating cash or kind, or sharing any of the campaigns on social media to get the word out there to other rock music fans who will be more than happy to see and hear what the independent solo rock sensation has done to keep real rock alive, and achieved single-handedly during the 7 plus years of his illustrious indie music career.

Live gigs are back, but musicians are still taking full advantage of the new and exciting entertainment avenue that is live streaming concerts. Before the pandemic, musicians only played fairly regularly online, if at all, and didn’t think much of it; however, it now seems to be quickly becoming one of the key parts of almost every musician’s career.

After losing his recording studio in a house fire recently, Brooklyn musician Frank Palangi has been residing at a nearby New York hotel and doing what he can to get back on his feet. This week he announced another date in a series of online gigs that have been crucial in raising funds as fans and supporters rally round to help the fast-rising independent rock maestro buy near music recording, production and mixing gear, and rebuild his music studio. Concert dates, tickets and live streaming information are available on the Skunk Radio Live Events page.

Music industry update | New York, USA | Indie artist, Frank Palangi

Even with everything that has been going on in the world over the past year, independent New York solo rock sensation Frank Palangi has been busy doing all the amazing things fans fell in love with him for, and a whole lot of new things. The pandemic closed a lot of doors for musicians, but for the resourceful, open-minded and, well, the lucky ones, it also opened a lot of doors. Frank is evidently all three. From new web series and online initiatives to production services, tutoring, new records, and of course online gigs, he seems to be doing more than he has ever done throughout the 7 plus years of his illustrious indie music career - which have been pretty busy to say the least, and everyday now seems to get almost exponentially more exciting than the last for fans because there’s no telling what could happen. The Brooklyn star just announced a series of release dates for some upcoming projects he has been working on and recently completed. His new ringtone “Fire Of Love” has been scheduled for release on Apple Music and iTunes on the 11th of June with pre-orders starting just over 3 weeks prior on the 21st of May. The official track “Fire Of Love” goes live for pre-order and pre-save on Apple Music, iTunes and Spotify on the 28th of May ahead of its official release on all digital music streaming and download platforms worldwide on the 25th of June.

Musicians and bands bring us a lot of joy in our daily lives, so getting a cheeky sneak peak behind the curtains, even if just for a couple of seconds to see what goes on behind the scenes in the recording studio, rehearsal studio or even the dressing room is always exciting. Almost every music fan would naturally get a rush from knowing what their favorite musicians are playing with, although sadly not every one of them has the pleasure of experiencing it. If you are like us, you’d like to go a step further and touch and feel it too (nothing weird though, but if you are a rock star you WILL catch us fingering your guitar backstage if you leave us alone with her, and we’ll tell you the same thing we say every time we get caught - "she was begging for it" 😊).

Let that be our little secret though, or Frank Palangi will be cringing at the thought of what might happen following the recent revelation of his favorite studio microphone earlier this week. Don’t worry Frank, we won’t kiss it when you're not looking.

Well so here it goes. The go-to microphone for New York’s critically acclaimed, often emulated but never duplicated independent rock star extraordinaire, and the only guitarist to make the US national anthem sound like a psychedelic classic since Jimi Hendrix; is the Shure KSM44A multi‑pattern capacitor microphone, which is great for a wide variety of studio applications including everything from vocal recording to electric bass and kick drums. It’s been shown several times in at least 4 of his music videos but if you haven’t seen it there is a picture of it below.

Music industry update | New York, USA | Indie artist, Frank Palangi

Gritty, classic, and with positive vibes all the time, Frank Palangi is without doubt one of the most exciting independent New York musicians to listen to live or recorded. He has made a name for himself and had an illustrious indie music career by releasing music that means something, not just to him but to his fans as well. The Upstate New York star quickly became one of the popular faces at some of the East Coast's popular live music venues, festivals and community events and since the start of the pandemic his popularity online has grown almost exponentially through live streaming events and web series.

After blowing fans away with an all-electric show back in January, he recently announced that he'll be playing a similar show, but this time all-acoustic. Music industry update | New York, USA | Indie artist, Frank Palangi

Stage It is one of several live concert streaming platforms whose popularity has grown and continues to grow almost exponentially during the pandemic. And even as Coronavirus vaccines are rolled out, lockdowns across the world are eased, and outdoor live music venues and other outdoor entertainment venues where social distancing is possible start to open their doors, there is no evidence that its new found growth in popularity will slow. Live streaming concerts have become an invaluable addition to the lives of music fans and entertainers around the world more so than ever before over the past year, and many die-hard music fans like ourselves are starting to wonder how it was ever possibly live without them. Online concerts make following exciting artists a lot more exciting and allow for a more intimate connection and experience than is possible at traditional live music events and festivals, which are often packed with hundreds if not thousands of fans, all potentially bumping into you, spilling your drink, stepping on your brand new suede shoes or brushing against your new pants willy-nilly. Sure, it’s still fun with all that happening while you are trying to enjoy your favorite artist or band play, but nothing beats having them all to yourself every once in a while in the comfort of your own living room.

So whether you haven’t streamed a concert live before or you didn’t realize all the perks while you were doing it prior to now, well, it’s your lucky day. On the 14th of February, New York indie rock star, Frank Palangi will be celebrating his birthday, and what better way to do it than with a live streaming concert right? Well, that’s exactly what’s happening - a 30 minute acoustic show at 4 PM PST on Valentine's Day, Sunday, the 14th of February, 2021; complete with a Q&A session after the show. Tickets and live streaming information are available on the Skunk Radio Live Events page. Be there or be square.

Music industry update | New York, USA | Indie artist, Frank Palangi

He got his start in the music industry after handing his demo to Grammy nominated singer Josh Brown, who is famous for playing in the rock bands Day Of Fire and Full Devil Jacket. Frank Palangi approached Josh while he was on tour playing at a local nightclub in Upstate New York where Frank is based. Before long he received a phone call from Josh's producer, Rogers Masson, whose credits include Vintage Trouble and Marylin Manson, and was on his way to record his first EP, "Frank Palangi". Frank, who taught himself to play the guitar, bass and drums at the age of 13, has now enjoyed over a decade as one of the East Coast’s most highly revered fully independent rock artists. With his positive, motivational classic rock sound, he has kept real Rock ‘n’ Roll music alive and continues to bring both old school and new school rock music fans together at many of the region’s popular live music venues, concert halls, community events and festivals. With so many notable records under his belt and so many notable venues played already, Frank is on his way to becoming one of the most exciting new rock music stars out of New York in a very long time, but he is keeping all his options open especially in light of the Coronavirus pandemic and the unpredictable future it has brought with it, not just for the music industry but for all sectors of the world's economies. This week he announced that he will be taking part in the next series of American radio and television network, NBC's popular TV talent show, “The Voice”, and everyone is invited to vote and show their support.

Music industry update | New York, USA | Indie singer songwriter, Frank Palangi

Like most musicians, if not all, independent Brooklyn, New York solo rock sensation Frank Palangi’s gigging schedule has taken several big blows over the past 9 months owing to the coronavirus pandemic. Prior to the pandemic Frank played almost every self-respecting live music venue, concert hall and community event in New York and the East Coast of the United States; and had become a crowd favorite at local sporting events owing to his signature style of performing the national anthem. It’s hard to go from all that to nothing at all, so of course, like many successful musicians have done, he has taken his show online. In addition to gigging live online independently and featuring on popular music live streams, online radio stations and podcasts, Frank also recently started an Instagram Live series which airs every week and features live interviews with emerging as well as fairly established musicians, bands, songwriters, producers and other exciting people who have made a career for themselves in the music industry. During the show, which has a special guest every week, they discuss everything from new releases, current projects and upcoming releases to career history, goals and objectives, life events, studio equipment, production and performance techniques, relationships and everything in-between. The last episode of the series featured Tennessee, US rock music producer, Rogers Masson of Audrey Sound, who discussed some of his projects and career history live from his recording studio. The next episode in the series is scheduled for today, the 18th of November at 5PM EST when Frank will be chatting live with bassist and radio host, Anthony Zee Donaldson. The recorded show will be available to watch on Facebook and YouTube after it has aired live on Instagram. Live streaming information is available on the Skunk Radio Live Events page.
