Have you ever tried to catch a chicken? Or to catch anything at all that knows it’s so delicious? Imagine how many people would be more active members of society if we all had to catch and kill our own food. How many people do you know in your life right now that you can tell have tons of potential but won’t do anything with it or let anyone know they have it until they are sure they will succeed? Either because they’ve tried too many times, they know it’s really hard or because they’ve been brainwashed into thinking they need to be special to win and hence they don’t deserve it. So many right? Well imagine if there was a way you could get them active and make them feel like they’re ready to take on the world - for the very first time, or once again. There is! A limited edition vinyl of the critically acclaimed record “Inner Demons” by Megan McDuffee is currently shipping again and word on the street is if you play this amazing 10 track album backwards on repeat 7 times you can defeat your inner demons and break free from everything that has been holding you back all your life. If it’s not you who needs it, get it for that someone you know or someone who may come into your life in the future who could use it. Remember, it’s only available for a limited time.

Disclaimer: it may not work 😊.

...okay, you don't look happy at all right now. Something tells me you rushed over here with some real problems and some really bad demons you seriously need to get rid of. So I'll give you one way to get rid of your inner demons okay? The most important way. It's just one word but it's the most powerful word in the world. It's my answer to almost every question and my proposed solution to every problem.

There is a little riddle on my office door buzzer. I put it there to keep people away when I'm busy - It works!

The riddle reads:

What is the missing word in the following sentence?

"The door of success is heavy and hard to open, let's _______ it together. "
A. Push
B. Kick
C. Kiss

Most people choose A or B, the answer is C. No one ever gets buzzed in and when they call my phone I pick it up and pretend it's the answering machine if it's not Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, Christina Milian, Hillary Clinton or someone I really want to meet, he-he-he.

The easiest way to find success is to attract it. You don't need hunt it down, or trick it into submission, or get really aggressive and make it your bitch, or push really hard, or "kick in the door waving the 44", or destroy all the competition. You can definitely try especially if you've got big muscles, but if it doesn't work you can easily attract it by being really awesome and loving yourself - your amazing (successful) self. Love is attraction. If I was ever met with a metaphorical or actual door of success, I would kiss it. Why? Because I'm always focused on being my best self and doing my best work - if a door of success shows up, it would simply be a manifestation of my best self (my success). And just like I do the bathroom mirror every morning when I say "good morning" to myself, I would kiss it - I would kiss ME (success).  What would you do? Tweet @SkunkRadioLive.

So let me tell you the number one way of getting rid of your demons - LOVE. Love them like you love every other part of your being because they are YOURS. YOU created them somehow, or allowed them to come into existence in your world somehow, and they are a part of you. Albeit a part you don't like but nevertheless a part of you. And don't worry if they came about owing to circumstance beyond your control - they are yours now and that's all that matters. Once you've fallen in love with the most disgusting, hardest-to-love side of you, you would have become a better person and be in a better position to change it than if you had spent hours trying to beat it down with a hammer. Another keyword here is CHANGE. What you are really trying to do is change your demons, I suspect - not get rid of them. I don't know about you but if I had a bad child for example, I would try to change him/her/they, not get rid of them. So there you have it. LOVE first, the rest will come to you mkay? Have you ever heard the song "Do for Love" by Tupac? I never really understood or liked the track - the beat just didn't sit well with me. Plus it reminded me so much of something a famous notorious American gangster used to say - "Do for Self", and I'm not a gangster. When I discovered love, I realised that song had been silently playing away in the back of my mind since the very day I heard it. Now, I never go anywhere without my mistletoe and a ChapStick.

Mwah! That's what that meant. 💋

Have a wonderful day.

With love!

... mostly sex stuff

Pick up a piece of paper and draw a smiley face (like this one - 😀). Write above the smiley face “Have a good day”. Put it in your pocket and carry it with you throughout the day. No, you don’t need to look at it ten times a day or every time you take a break, or whenever you go to the restroom to do a line of cocaine -  Oops!! I mean powder your nose (wink, wink). Don’t even think about it, forget it’s there and go about your day. If you happen to see it and look at it while digging for some change or a condom or whatever you keep in your pockets on a regular working day that’s totally fine but don’t look for it. Now do this throughout the whole week, thinking absolutely nothing of it. Continue doing it, it’s just a piece of paper. It certainly won’t weight you down or get in your way in any way, what have you got to lose right? What do you think will happen before long? Now try writing other stuff down and see what happens - but only one thing at any given time. Don't walk around with a pocket full of loose papers, that's chaos. Write down only the most important one on any given day.

Writing things down makes them easier. Don’t ask why, just believe it. In fact just before writing this article I pulled a piece of paper out of my pocket, crumpled it up and casually tossed it at the trash can nearby – I didn’t miss. I never miss. I can NEVER miss! I’m so amazing. Yes, I AM. And guess what was written on the piece of paper? Yep, you guessed right – “Honeymoon from Hell”. Swish!!

That’s totally got nothing to do with the actual content or context of this music news story I’m about to tell you. I just thought I’d tell you how we both arrived here to share this wonderful moment together – you reading, and me writing. I’ve totally got butterflies right now, do you feel that too? Don't worry I'm not about to try to kiss you. Also, I wanted to share that information with you so you can share it with any really sad people you know, and together, this amazing secret that gets me through the day can make the world a happier and more prosperous place.

To sum up – think it, write it!

So ….

Today I discovered that “Honeymoon from Hell” recently became available to stream on Amazon Prime. To be honest I was never into Amazon Prime until I discovered Millennials were using the word Netflix as a slang that is used to refer to, well, mostly sex stuff. Darn Millennials! They’re ruining everything. I love sex but when I tell people I’m watching Netflix with my friends I don’t want them to think it’s code for something else. We're not all like Eddie Murphy - friends can't kiss. They shouldn't, it will totally ruin the relationship, especially if they don't stop there, and they do other stuff - sex stuff. #BoomerangFilm

But what’s so special about the movie I sense you ask. And I’ll tell you. The award-winning horror 2016 MarVista Entertainment film starring Lexi Giovagnolia, Cameron Richardson and Catherine Hicks was scored by a really exciting freelance music composer from California who we love so much and follow so closely. Her name is Megan McDuffee and once you’ve heard the badass, sinister score in the banner video at the link provided further down, you’ll love her very much too. But don’t stop there, explore the other links and find out why Megan is one of the most successful and fastest-rising independent music composers in San Francisco; and why she has had the opportunity to work with so many big name in the television, film and video game industries.

Share this with everyone you know who watches TV.

Music industry update | California, USA | Indie artist, Megan Mcduffee

With all that’s going on in the world today, people are finding different ways to get by and trying their hands at a whole lot of new stuff. Sometimes it’s stuff they wouldn’t have ordinarily even been remotely interested in and other times it’s stuff they just hadn’t got around to trying owing to the severe lack of time in this new busy busy world we live in today when if you blink for a second you could miss an apple fall on your head and your chance to be the next Isaac Newton, he-he-he.

I too did a lot of stuff that was out of the ordinary during the pandemic and am in fact still doing them. To be honest, the pandemic changed my whole lifestyle in ways I never thought possible. I did a whole bunch of reading, and I hate reading. I hate anything to do with books. I hate books so much I still have recurring nightmares about late homework and studying for exams back in high school - I NEVER make the homework deadline and I NEVER pass, then I wake up with my heart pounding.   Sometimes I think it’s a sign but I don’t think any further than that. It’s so scary.

I've also been doing squats every single day since lockdown started. I figured I've been an advocate, connoisseur and absolute nut for firm butts with a certain je ne sais quoi for my entire adult life, why not get one myself, so I can look back at it in the mirror and make duck faces like Kim Kardashian. Right now my cheeks are so firm that even Moses couldn't part them 😂. That's not an invitation for you to touch them if we meet, I'm just telling you how much progress I've made.

Well, now that it’s out there and you know what I spent a lot of time doing during lockdown; what have you been doing? I’m sure you’ve been making the most of the new found time at home but if you haven’t there is still time. Tweet me @skunkradiolive

Oh by the way, did you know that that infamous apple that led to the discovery of gravity never actually dropped on Newton’s head? Nope! Did you actually think he was sitting 90 degrees underneath an apple tree reading a book and an apple dropped right on his head and the first thing he thought was “ding! aha!”.  Everyone knows that sort of thing could only happen if you were sitting 90 degrees underneath a palm tree smoking a fat zoot with a cold beer on a hot summer day, not reading. Plus, don’t you think it would have hurt too much? But anyway, now you know. He observed it fall from a tree, it didn’t fall on his head. I learned that during lockdown too. I also learned that the phrase “Survival of the Fittest” doesn’t actually mean survival of the most physically fit but rather survival of the most fit to survive at the time. And there I was hitting the gym every day for years, what a sucker. I know better now 😊.

One thing more and more people have been doing nowadays is getting into the art of making music. There is so much music production software out there, and the equipment is so accessible and a lot more cheaper now that everyone is quickly discovering that we human beings all have music deep inside us, if we can only find it.

This week, video game composer and synthpop artist Megan McDuffee released an exciting video with some tips on how to make a great score. Whether you’ve recently started making music, you’ve been doing it for a while or you don’t know where to start; or even if you have no intention of ever taking your God-given musical talents any further than singing in the shower and the occasional hum in a desperate bid to disguise what you are doing in the toilet after a really spicy dinner when you’ve got company and they think you are classy so you are playing music so soft you could hear a pin drop in the background, and what you’re dropping is way bigger than pins; the video could give you some exciting insights into the life of a really exciting music composer and the music industry in general. Check out the video in the player below. Be sure to follow Megan on social media and check back here regularly for more exciting videos like this with creative and/or business related music industry tips, she’s so awesome.

Would you be considered a peeping Tom in modern society if you fancied nothing more than to get a sneaky peep behind the curtains whenever your favorite artist or band is in town and maybe even get a few pics or video clips as well to take home with you and keep as memorabilia? When does a hardcore fan cross the line and become creepy? Is there an actual line or is it just an arbitrary line that appears once the subject starts feeling uncomfortable? What if you made sure they were fully dressed and nothing was showing or happening every time before peeping if there was a sure way to pull that off? What if your favorite artist is Cardi B or someone who is never fully dressed? Sigh!

Well guess what? It turns out you probably wouldn't nowadays. Over the past few decades it has become the norm to peek behind curtains, everyone's doing it. In fact fans are being invited behind the scenes more so than ever before now so much so that if you were a creepy fella or lady who loved nothing more than the thrill of not getting caught seeing something you shouldn't be seeing there wouldn't be very much excitement left there for you anymore, if any at all. Behind the scenes clips are an exciting way to get insights into the real personas of our favorite entertainers and sometimes could even result in more excitement than the actual content - the songs, the albums, and shows we fell in love with them for. The only prerequisite is that you wait to get invited to peek before peeking, he-he-he. But wait, what if you assumed the invitation was implied? Aaarrrghh!!! Alright let's move on, head hurts now.

Megan McDuffee has always been keen to show her fans what's going on behind the scenes since she stepped out from behind the curtains working as one of San Francisco's top independent music composers for television, film and gaming to become a recording artist, and fans have enjoyed and cherished her openness every step of the way. She recently released some exciting behind the scenes clips showing bloopers from the video shoot for her single "13th Hour" which was released earlier this year. Go ahead, check it out below, no one's judging you here, you know you want to. Go on, take a peek. Besides, you were invited.

... "But wait, what was all that talk about peeping Toms then?" you ask yourself while scratching your head gently. Just the result of a mixture of guilty conscience and confusion in just the right amounts to be considered as neither. Let's just say some clearly labeled security cameras were recently installed and people have been doing stuff right in front of them. It's like they want to get caught. Long story short, labels have been made bigger and clearer, camera wasn't moved.

I worked for a film production company and one day we had extra time on a set, so why not shoot a parody music video?”

For a musician, those six words could make all the difference between playing music in a bedroom and giving it away free until eventually calling it quits; and having an illustrious career in the music industry. Many artists nowadays tend to focus more on social media likes and shares, going viral, Tik Tok videos, getting on popular Spotify playlists, getting more streams on streaming services, and creating a buzz; which are all very important as well, but they will never be as important as creating amazing music. Music composer Megan McDuffee is a prime example. Throughout her career she has landed projects with some of the biggest television and film production companies in the United States and composed music for everything from small indie games to trailers and soundtracks for big budget films. Her latest job was to compose music for the trailer of a new film titled “Wrong Turn”, which she did, and was spectacular as usual. A reporter for Australia’s popular free music magazine, Mixdown heard it and thought to himself, “this is really cool, I wonder who produced it”. One thing led to another and before long Megan was doing an interview for the next issue of the magazine, which is distributed nationwide. So let this be a lesson for you; if you are a musician reading this, focus on creating amazing music and let everything else fall into place. And if you are not a musician, focus on being amazing at whatever it is you do, and likewise let everything else fall into place. This year’s winner of the Annual Game Music Awards for Best Independent Composer and Best Retro/Chiptune Soundtrack, Megan McDuffee has announced that she’ll be spending a little less time on social media and using the time to figure out where to focus her energy at this crucial stage of her career.  Starting out as a music composer a few years back, creating bespoke music for television, film, video games and multimedia applications, she enjoyed a very successful career as a freelancer and continues to do so, with a vast number of big names and big projects in her portfolio including media networks and production companies like CBS, FOX, ABC, Bravo and Lifetime, and projects like the Netflix series "Wet, Hot, American Summer", Italian comedy "Made In China Napoletano", the popular television series "Dancing With The Stars", FOX television show "The F Word", and Bravo's television series "The Real Housewives Of New York City", just to name a few. Her latest project, the official soundtrack album for River City Girls, a limited edition Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch video game was released late 2019 to critical acclaim with a whopping 50 tracks. It sold out on vinyl while it was still on pre-order. In 2018, Megan reinvented herself as solo synth pop artist and enjoyed, and continues to enjoy an unbreakable spell of success, with her fan base growing exponentially following almost every new release. She has made a name for herself quicker than any independent US synthpop artist has done in today’s highly competitive world of electronic music and critics argue she is ready for the big time. Her latest announcement shows that she may feel the same way too, and although fans will miss her heart-warming messages and her virtual companionship on Twitter and Instagram especially during these dark times we are living through, we are all wishing her well and hoping she finds the right path soon.

Music industry update | California, USA | Indie artist, Megan Mcduffee

Released on the 27th of May, 2019, just over 10 months after the single was originally released to critical acclaim on the 1st of July, 2018, the “Streets” music video excelled on almost every front, and it did it with a fairly limited budget, as is the case with most independent music videos. It has been hailed as one of the most exciting independent music videos of all time, and some critics would even go as far as to argue that it was one of the most creative music videos since Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” back in the '80s. It brought joy and continues to bring reassurance to discerning and seasoned music fans, connoisseurs, and even tastemakers, who would probably have noticed by now that musicians are no longer putting in as much effort and thought into creating music videos that really wow their audiences to the point where loyal fan bases become nothing short of cult followings. A collaborative project between San Francisco, USA’s new synthpop sensation, Megan McDuffee and Alberta, Canada’s Moonrunner83, the record was such a hit that it completely sold out on Compact Disc (CD) and Cassette tape within weeks of its release for pre-order, and the music video went on to take the buzz that ensued to astronomical levels where it remains till this day. This week Megan took fans on a musical journey back in time to the music video shoot with the release of a new, never before seen behind the scenes clip. [Watch BTS clip below]

Music industry update | California, USA | Indie artist, Megan Mcduffee

Since she shot to independent synthpop superstardom with the release of the critically acclaimed single, “Hero” back in 2018, San Francisco’s Megan McDuffee, who got her start and made a name for herself in the music industry as a video game and film music composer, hasn’t gone a single month without releasing something new or having something exciting go viral. So of course it is possible that some fans could find it difficult or even impossible to juggle keeping up with her rapidly growing synthpop music catalog and keeping up with her also rapidly growing catalog of video game and film soundtracks – but not anymore. This week Megan unveiled a Spotify playlist that brings all her solo and collaborative synthpop projects together under one roof. The playlist is titled “Synth Siren”. So at least one half of the exciting problem is sorted now.

After releasing her latest project, “Barely Covered” to critical acclaim on the 13th of December last year, California, US emerging synthpop star, Megan McDuffee has announced that she’s already back in the studio working on her next release - an all original vocal album with a similar gritty, moody synthpop style as the new cover EP, which she hopes to release later this year. “Barely Covered”, continues to receive rave reviews and is slowly but surely making its way up independent synthpop music charts across the US and far and wide, as almost every one of her releases has done since her debut back in 2018.

Music industry update | California, USA | Indie artist, Megan Mcduffee

Megan McDuffee announced that she was working on a cover EP a while back and the anticipation of the new record has been growing exponentially with every passing moment owing to the fact that she is one of those artists that never seems to stop or take a pause from releasing new music, not to talk of writing and recording. She’s one of those prolific artists that is always either at the studio or at the studio, and she keeps fans updated with videos live from the studio every step of the way as she makes her play to become the queen of synthpop as she is already being called by some. For an artist who only made her debut over a year ago, the exceptionally talented California based music composer turned recording artist has blazed a trail like no artist has done in a very long time, and she has done it independently. She has already collaborated with producers around the world, topped Bandcamp’s Bestsellers list several times, sold out physical copies of every single one of her records which were made available on CD, cassette and vinyl (for those insatiable hardcore music fans and geeks that love music so much they need to hold it – yes, they do still exist) and has probably released more music than would be expected of a new artist during the course of even a 3 year recording contract. She has done all this without a massive budget, expensive songwriters, marketing experts and promoters, managers or any of those things many newbies say they need in order to succeed. Megan's illustrious independent music career so far is evidence that to excel in the business of music all that is required is talent, proper education and training in music theory and music business where possible, practise/experience, focus, concrete goals and determination. The cover EP is scheduled for release tomorrow, the 13th of December, but if you really can’t wait check out the promo video and pre-order it below.
