Guaranteed to put shivers in spines and smiles on faces (at the same time) every single time, The Watermark High is an electronic music composer and producer whose fanbase knows just what they are getting every time there is word of a new release - at least that’s what they generally always think; but every single time they are left astounded, their wildest expectations grossly surpassed and their bar for good music raised so high they’d never be the same again. If you really don’t know what good music is (yes, there are people out there who don’t) or you have never been fully satisfied by your lover (oops!! favorite artist I mean), then you are better off listening to Kanye West’s very first song and then working your way up to this. But wait, why Kanye West’s first song you may ask? Well, it’s his only good record as far as we know. As far as he knows, he was God after that song and everyone knows God doesn’t make the best songs (he-he-he, have you ever been to a Catholic mass? Not very danceable ey? But sleep-able, yes!). Nevertheless, Kanye was one of the producers behind many top hits of the early 2000s and maybe even as far back as the mid '90s so of course he must have been one of the best producers at the time. But those days are long gone and you’ve discovered The Watermark High, so let’s get right down to the new record shall we? 

Released on the 26th of March, “Remember When ...?” has been hailed by fans and critics as one of the US based South African producer’s best records to date – but then they’ve said that for every single new record since he made his debut just under a decade ago. When was the last time you heard someone say something was brand “spanking” new? What an awkward thing to say right? Spanking new? Is it so new you want to spank it? Or is it so crisp it makes you want to spank somebody? Even a quick Google search won't get you anywhere if you tried to delve into the origins of the phrase. In fact, if you ever walked into a room and someone described your jeans or pants as brand spanking new you should probably get the hell out of there just to be safe. This music that is about to be introduced however, seems to warrant the use of the phrase, because not only has every single one of its predecessors been so good they made listeners want to spank somebody, they were so darn amazing they made listeners want to get spanked by each other while listening to them. Okay maybe that was a little bit of an exaggeration, but don’t say you weren’t warned. 

Well, now that the disclaimer is out of the way, without further ado let's introduce the brand spanking new album by one of the most exciting electronic music producers out of Johannesburg, South Africa, The Watermark High, who is now based in Boston, Massachusetts after relocating and re-launching his career a couple of year ago. A leader and educator in the art of electronic music production, The Watermark High is a South African music producer who made a name for himself as a force to reckon with on Johannesburg's electronic music scene a few years back. With his breakout album, "Murmurs", he made his mark locally and raised the bar high for any acts who intended to follow, before going on to dominate regionally. After years as one of the top producers in the region and having the honor of sharing his knowledge with students of the arts at one of South Africa's most prestigious music schools, where he taught electronic music production using Ableton, he announced that he was relocating to the US. He is now located in Boston, Massachusetts. Subsequently, after a few months settling in he returned in full force and announced that he was ready to relaunch his career and start releasing music again. "Commuter Hues" was released to critically acclaim on the 11th of October on Apple Music, Spotify and all digital music platforms worldwide via Distrokid. This week he announced that "Elsewhere", his next official US release is complete and due out in stores at the end of November. THE CLEAR BLUE BEYOND

A MONTHLY OLD SCHOOL PARTY IN SANTA MONICA

If you are into old school music and you live in California or anywhere even remotely close then you are in for a treat. California's top independent house music DJ, DJ Bossa Nova is adding another monthly event to his list of popular club nights in the region.

"90's/2000's Party" is the new monthly club night at Gramercy Night Club, Bar and Restaurant that will be bringing back all the top hits and favorite sounds of the 90s and early 2000s for fans of all genres from hip hop and R&B to pop, rock and of course electronic music, all mixed in seamlessly like only Bossa knows how.

The first event in the monthly series will be held tonight, the 14th of September at 10 PM local time.

THE FOUR DAY WEEKEND

Los Angeles DJ and radio host, DJ Bossa Nova has declared this weekend a four day weekend for electro fans. With 4 back-to-back gigs scheduled in California and Texas between Thursday the 26th and Sunday, the 29th, he's ending the month in style and hitting fans where it hurts (in a good way) at the pinnacle of the Summer 2018 holidays when everywhere in the world is hotter than has ever been and everyone's more pumped up for the Summer than ever before. He has played clubs and prestigious live music venues all over the US and he brings much joy to die-hard electronic music fans everywhere he goes. DJ Bossa is already known as the hardest working house music DJ in Los Angeles, with a residency and a very popular club night at Mom's Bar LA, and it looks like he's about to spread his wings once again.

After blowing the socks off Santa Monica's Mom's Bar on Thursday night, and Gramercy on Friday night, Bossa is heading over to Houston, Texas for the first time to do it all over again.
