Hailed as one of the most authentic new R&B artists out of California in a very long time, Idrise has had an illustrious career as an independent musician since he made his debut with the release of “Fallin” back in 2012. He has since shared the stage with some of the biggest names in entertainment nationally and internationally, won MTV awards, and topped iTunes' and several European music charts. He suddenly dropped of the radar for a while in terms of music releases over the past year and fans where shocked to find out why when he was featured on NBC’s coverage of Homeboy Industries’ music healing program which is aimed at helping people who have been through or are going through difficult circumstances. Idrise later confirmed on social media that he has in fact been working with the Los Angeles based not-profit organisation for a while now and that he may have found his calling as an artist. Crissi Cochrane’s latest album “Heirloom” was released to critical acclaim on the 29th of February, just over a month after the first single from the album, “Hungry Love”. Defying every expectation and leaving critics as well as die-hard soul music fans lost for words, and even in a state of shock in many cases, “Heirloom” was anticipated to be the record that would catapult the independent Ontario soul music star to global superstardom. Critics remain optimistic as the album spreads like wild fire across Canada.

A household name in Windsor, Crissi has been a popular face on local television and radio, and in the press as well since her critically acclaimed single, “Pretty Words” defied every expectation of what an indie artist could achieve completely independently and was streamed over 5 million times on Spotify and YouTube within a few weeks of its release back in 2016. It still remains one of the top independent soul records of all time and probably will for a very long time.

Crissi's repertoire is distinctive in ways words can’t describe most of the time but one word that often comes up is elegant. It is an invaluable quality that is becoming harder and harder to find in the music industry today and in modern society as a whole. It's a characteristic that remains consistent in all the Windsor sensation's records, and sees to it that they are well-received by all generations of music lovers across almost every genre.

This week Crissi revealed the producer, engineer and arranger behind the masterpiece that is “Heirloom” – it was her husband, Soul Brother Mike, who is also a musician, the brains behind the newly formed Ontario music collective, Soul City Music Co-op which Crissi is a part of, and who we now know has what it takes to make magic happen behind the scenes in the recording studio as well.
