Halloween was more or less cancelled this year, but that didn’t stop Hannah Gill from releasing her “Spooky Jazz” EP on short notice on the 28th of October, just in time for the spooky holiday. Sadly, the only masks on the streets on the big day, at least out here in the UK were N95s; and kids had to have their candy delivered by mail, with a tiny little card that read “boo”. But it wasn’t all gloomy thanks to Hannah Gill’s bold move. “Spooky Jazz” is still bringing much joy to fans long after Halloween and the buzz is only getting bigger as the year gets more daunting, with a light at the end of the tunnel that seems to get farther the closer we get to it in the race to find a Coronavirus solution other than lockdown that actually works, or anything that will return humanity to any sort of normality. The 6 track EP is available to stream and download on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube and all top digital music services.

New York singer songwriter, Hannah Gill is emerging from lockdown bearing gifts, after bringing so much joy and reassurance to fans from her home through live online concerts during these very unpredictable, unprecedented and unsettling times. Her latest record is the third in a series of exciting new singles that have been released about a week apart as lockdowns around the world tentatively come to an end and the world returns to a new normal, whatever that may be. “Thinking of you” was released on the 15th of May, followed by “Take Your Time” on the 22nd. “Ashes” was released on the 5th of June on Bandcamp and on the 10th of June on Apple Music, Spotify and other digital music services. All proceeds from the Bandcamp release are being donated to the Black Visions Collective.

It’s hard to go from performing in front of thousands of fans locally, nationally and internationally at arenas, concert halls and venues of all sizes to doing it from the comfort of a much smaller recording studio or residence but sadly many musicians are having to resort to doing exactly that to keep their careers alive, to keep fans happy, and altimately, to keep music alive during these unfortunate times. After recently returning from a European tour with New York jazz music collective, Postmodern jukebox, New York singer songwriter, Hannah Gill quickly announced a new batch of local concerts in and around the East Coast of the US. Sadly, only a few weeks later she was forced to cancel due to Coronavirus restrictions which are now in place in various US states and around the globe, as well as for the safety of fans. She is now looking to start performing live online, and has announced that her first online gig will be streaming live on Instagram and YouTube on the 28th of March at 5 PM Eastern Time. Hannah Gill has already had an impressive year, with the customary packed schedule of local concerts in New York where she’s from, as well as touring with the exciting New York jazz music collective, Postmodern Jukebox who she has toured with several times both nationally and internationally since the release of the critically acclaimed single, “Chasing Pavements” recorded with pianist and head of the collective, Scott Bradley back in 2018. Sadly, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, which continues to spread like wild fire across the world, the independent New York star has announced that most of her major upcoming gigs have been cancelled until further notice. When New York artist, Hannah Gill of the critically acclaimed indie band, Hannah Gill And The Hours teamed up with New York arranger and pianist, Scott Bradlee's music collective, Postmodern Jukebox (PMJ) for the single, “Chasing Pavement” back in 2017, the chemistry was magical. It led to several other amazing singles and Hannah has now toured internationally with the music collective several times. This week, after returning from a gruelling 19 date international tour with venues in UK, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Italy, Hungary and Austria, with PMJ, Hannah announced that she’s been working a batch of new tunes that she’s ready to share them. She played her first US gig of 2020 at WNYC (New York Public Radio)’s The Next Big Thing event on January 16 at The Green Space in New York and announced another show on the 8th of February in Long Island. When was the last time a song changed your life? The last time you turned on the radio and heard something that whisked you to a better place in your mind and no matter what was going on in your life at the time, made you feel like everything was going to be alright, regardless of whether it was addressing the issues you were facing or not. Good songs have the power to do exactly that. No matter what the context may be, they have the power to reach deep inside your soul and hit a button that even you struggle to identify the location of. The words, the melodies, the singer’s voice, the performance, the colourful or bland tones and timbres, the sonic lights and shades, the reverberation, everything just comes together in a way that is so intrinsic and inviting that it appears as though somewhere in the production a space has been left especially for you, the listener to grab a chair and be a part of it all – almost like you become one with the song. But creating a record doesn’t involve planning for such an effect, it comes naturally and is born, like most good things are born when talent and ambition are available in equal parts. “Dog Days Are Over” is one of such amazing records which was released by London, UK indie rock band, Florence and the Machine back in December 2008. This week we had the great pleasure of experiencing what happens when something that is already magical becomes even more magical – and it was mind-boggling, to say the very least. Hannah Gill, the emerging New York songstress who has been known to take an amazing record and make it more spectacular than anyone could have ever wished for or dreamt up in their wildest dreams recently released a jazz cover of the track while on tour in New Zealand with music collective, Post Modern Jukebox. Not only are her pipes more fine-tuned than they’ve ever been, they are ripe enough to make a grown man feel like a virgin again, and not in a sexual way – you dog. If you’ve never had your socks blown off before then it’s best you get them off right now and set them aside. You are about to be serenaded to the moon and back, and we’d hate for you to loose your socks somewhere out in space, which is where it will most likely happen, because you’ll never get them back. In just over 3 years, Hannah Gill went from being a very promising, exceptionally talented 18 year old newcomer on New York's alternative pop scene to becoming one of the most sought after independent touring acts on the East Coast and possibly in the US today. The record that put her name on the map, her debut album, "The Water" is still being hailed for its originality and sheer excellence till this day alongside her latest album, "Lost In Words" which followed suit has still got fans and critics raving madly and struggling to wrap their heads around it over a year since its release back in April 2018. Hannah Gill has toured nationally and internationally and is being looked upon as one of New York's next big international acts. Alternative pop sensation, Hannah Gill of the critically acclaimed independent New York band, Hannah Gill and the Hours has had an exceptional career as an independent artist, and it just keeps getting better and better as she progresses quicker and quicker towards alt pop superstardom.

After at least 3 national and international tours, 3 top singles including "Someone That I Used to Know" which reached number 10 on the iTunes jazz charts and so many memorable live music moments, it's safe to say there is some sort of magical chemistry between Hannah Gill and music collective, Postmodern Jukebox.

Hannah Gill has made a name for herself as one of the most original independent pop acts New York has ever seen. Emerging only a few years back with her debut single, "I Feel Awake", Hannah Gill has amassed a sizable fanbase that is always keen to hear from her and see her live much like PMJ, a rotating music collective founded by arranger and pianist, Scott Bradlee who is also from New York, back in 2011, around the same time Hannah made her debut. HANNAH GILL HEADS SOUTH FOR AUGUST 2018 TOUR

She's New York's top independent alternative pop artist for a reason, and next month Hannah Gill will be taking those amazing pipes on the road once again. Having travelled the world with the music collective, Postmodern Jukebox (PMJ) for a while commencing in the summer 2017 up until late spring this year, embarking on another short US tour and catching up on recording and releasing her latest album, "Lost in Words", Hannah Gill has wasted no time in booking her next tour. This time she's heading South of the US. The short four day tour will commence on the 1st of August, passing through venues in Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee before coming to an end in Minnesota on the 4th.
