The world’s live music landscape has been forced to change dramatically over the past year owing to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis; and musicians are adapting, some better than others - much like their fans. Like many musicians, New York’s Christina Custode has taken up online concerts and live streaming as a way of connecting with her fans, growing her following and sharing new music during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, which has brought the traditional form of live music performance at live music venues, concert halls and music festivals to a standstill. One of New York’s most seasoned and in-demand independent adult contemporary acts, she spent several years building a repertoire of music that is not just commercially viable but also means something to the loyal followers she has amassed locally and nationally, and consequently she is one of the few out of so many musicians performing live online who are finding success and seeing their numbers grow with each successive gig. Christina partnered with live online music events outfit Sessions Live a while back and is now playing at least one full length concert online with the company as host every month in addition to her own personal online live streams and activities. CC NOMINATED FOR 2020 GRAMMY AWARD

In just under two weeks, Grammy-nominated independent Niagra Falls, New York singer songwriter, Christina Custode will begin her summer 2019 tour, the "Just In Case Tour", titled after her new single "Just In Case" which was released on the 13th of February. The 11 date North East US tour commences on the 26th of July in Englewood, Ohio, with venues in Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine and Vermont. Christina is celebrating this week after news that she has been nominated for another Grammy Award emerged. This time it's the Music Educator Award, which recognizes current educators who have made a significant contribution to the field of music education.

SAYING GOODBYE TO FISHY

She's known to have one of the most comforting and reassuring sounds to offer on New York's live adult contemporary music scene, she's a grand piano virtuosa, a Grammy nominee, she's got the work ethic of a Mexican and she's one of those artists that is guaranteed to leave her audience with big smiles every single time. Up until last week, Christina Custode also owned one of the oldest goldfish in New York. He didn't play an instrument or have really big hair but he had all the makings of a rock star and he brought joy to so many. We featured him on SRL News back in 2018 when he turned 13, and fans and well-wishers hoped he would make it to 43 and break the record for the longest living goldfish. Sadly Fishy died of natural causes at 14 years of age on the 17th of April at around midnight. He will be dearly missed.

Christina released this message on social media shortly after his passing:

"With the heaviest of hearts, I share the passing of Fishy. Thanks for 14 years of unconditional love and friendship. I hope you spend eternity playing in all the bubbles on the other side of the rainbow bridge. You will be deeply missed little guy"

A classically-trained singer, songwriter and pianist, New York's Christina Custode knows how to make a good song sound amazing. JUST IN CASE

Rochester, New York has never seen or heard an artist like her, and probably never will again. That's why every chance they get they support her and give her praise where it's due. Her songs are classy, she sings like an angel and she caters to the needs of the grand piano like it's a new born baby - or a grown man that needs tender loving care, whichever you fancy. Nicknamed New York's sweetest songbird, she has stolen the hearts of many every single step of the way since the start of her illustrious independent music career. She has played nearly every live music venue in the region several times, toured the US and been nominated for prestigious awards including Grammy award nominations for her songs, "All for Her" and "Fire" at the 58th and 59th Grammy Awards.

Christina's debut single, "Mistletoe Song" was released back in 2011. This week Adult Contemporary singer songwriter, Christina Custode's gold fish turned … wait for it… 14 years old.

Many pop music careers don't even last that long nowadays so of course we had to give it its very own news story. We've all dreamed of this happening at some point in our lives but unfortunately it seems we don't have what it takes.

Christina Custode is an independent New York artist who earned herself a Grammy nomination at the very start of her career. Being a classically-trained musician, her songs are elegant and she's more meticulous than Italian leather hand-craftsmen when she blesses the grand piano with her touch. She's got great energy and she fills every music venue or concert hall with a joy and peacefulness no other artist can bring.
