Hip hop music appears to be going through an identity crisis, but there are still artists out there who know who they are and who are confident to just be themselves. Artists that stay in their own unique lane and
create music that not only speaks to the souls of fans but speaks to their own souls as well. It’s quite common for artists to bow to the demands of major record labels and just follow existing trends or go commercial to build a following,
sell more records, get more streams and music video views, create a buzz and ultimately, secure that world tour that is at the top of every musician and band’s wish list, not to mention the record labels’. Sure music licensing deals, royalties from radio airplay, etc, and endorsements may pay the bills but nothing compares to that good old tour money, especially in today’s music industry when actual record sales are becoming almost negligible and streaming services are not paying like artists and labels would like them to. Independent Georgia, US rap artist, Wiz Kid The Weirdo is one of such artists. He made a name for himself owing those very qualities – he is different and he strives to be different. Forget about a hundred face tattoos, onion booty music videos, too many gold teeth and those hip hop antics that are starting to get old. When you listen to a Wiz Kid song what you get is exactly what you came for – good music, meaningful lyrics, masterful delivery, creativity that knows no bounds and a feeling of satisfaction. “I Got The Sauce”, his new single was released to critical acclaim on the 31st of October, just over 2 months since its predecessor, “BBLM” which followed suit, was released.
