TOP MUSIC
Top musicians know how to get the crowd going. They know how to put on a great show and most of all they know how to keep the party escalating. Although hip hop is a fairly new genre, it is one of those genres that is guaranteed to get any crowd hyped up and ready to party every single time no matter what the circumstances. Sure, the lyrics are often criticized for being too violent, too sexist, too explicit and even outright offensive at times, as has been the case since its early days when artists like Dr. Dre, Easy E and NWA shot to fame in the '90s, but nevertheless, some of the biggest songs on the radio and on the charts today are either hip hop records, crossovers, or have drawn a little bit from the genre. Consequently, it has become one of the fastest moving genres in the music industry and not only are fans struggling to keep up with the number of new and emerging artists flooding their local and national music landscapes, the music industry is struggling as well, with so many talented new acts to choose from and budgets in place that mean they can only sign so many at any given time. Luckily, services like Spotify, Apple Music and free music promotion services like Soundcloud are giving new artists a platform to showcase their work and build their fan bases independently right from the start of their careers, and the new generation of rappers are making good use of it. One such artist who is making the most of the Internet promotion, marketing and networking tools available to up-and-coming musicians and entertainers today is a rapper from Charlotte in North Carolina who goes by the name of Adam Lucas Jr. He made his debut back in 2018 with the release of the mixtape, “No Hook” and has wasted no time getting his name out locally. This week on the SRL Networks Auditions, like we do every week in our search for the world’s next big stars, we delved into the compact but promising repertoire of the young new independent hip hop artist, who has got his mind set on becoming Charlotte's next big international rap artist, and also listened to his latest single, "Top Music". Voting is still open.
