Music promotion has become one of the most highly competitive fields in marketing today. With millions of talented emerging, unsigned, underground and independent artists, bands and labels surfacing every day to promote their new records the bar for good music is being raised higher and higher, and the music industry is now constantly on its toes more so than ever before trying to discover the next big sound. Discovering new artists is also getting more exciting. Back in the day there used to be only a handful of new acts to discover when you visited the local record store' and if you wanted to really go deep and find independent or emerging artists and bands you would have to go to a really niche music store that specialized in not just your preferred genre of music but also unsigned and underground artists, and again there were only a handful of them. Nowadays, with Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon mp3, Google Play Music, Deezer and other digital music services offering over 50 million tracks for as little as £0.99p music lovers are spoiled for choice, but it comes at a price - there is now too much music out there and too much to discover and it's almost impossible to know where to start, even with clever initiatives like Spotify's "Discover" feature and similar applications that try to help fans discover new music using algorithms that are getting more and more accurate in predicting what fans would like to hear. But no one likes the idea of a robot telling them what's hot or what they should listen to, the music industry has always been about word of mouth and that's what fans want. Luckily, there are still a handful of music discovery services run by real human beings who have actually listened to songs and albums before recommending them. Some even write a little review and tell listeners a little about the music creator(s) first instead of just shoving them in fans playlists and music players all willy-nilly. SRL is one of those places, but you knew that already, that's why you are here. Every week on SRL we discover new artists and give fans the opportunity to have their say in what's hot, and what new, unsigned, emerging and underground acts ultimately make it into the mainstream. It's that time again. This week we had the pleasure of discovering and exploring the discography of a talented new artist from Newnan in Georgia, USA. Making his debut with the release of the single, "Throwback" back in 2016, Stacc95 is an emerging rapper who is determined to make a name for himself in the world of hip hop and is already turning a lot of ears locally. His latest single, "Stay Focused" was released on the 1st of April and we had the opportunity to review it and also find out more about his career goals and objectives. Voting is still open.
