DISCOVERING MEXICO

Widespread obesity, colourful chickens, Christmas without presents, one too many words for corn, lenient police, complicated phone numbers, really good cocaine; Mexico is famous for a lot of things but unfortunately one of them is not pop music. This week on the Skunk Radio Live Auditions we had the pleasure of discovering a new artist who is changing all that.

Making his debut in 2018 with the release of the single, "Duenos de Aqui" , Laban is a new pop artist from Roma in Mexico City who has been hailed by even the toughest music critics, many whom don't even speak Spanish. His music is deeply moving, honest and real, and his debut record hits home with Mexicans and South Americans alike, touching on social and political issues that have been faced for years and continue to be faced in the regions.

The record was quickly followed by an elaborate video that gives international fans an inside look at Mexico.

Boasting a very unique and relatively western production sound compared to the traditional records many around the world have become accustomed with, he is setting a new trend and blazing a trail that is seeing him being predicted as one of Mexico's next big international pop stars.
