Hip Hop is best served raw and uncut. Poor quality cassette tapes, radio pervaded with white noise and even cassette tapes recorded from those very same poor quality radio broadcasts or other tapes couldn't stop die-hard fans from enjoying it back in the day. Like many genres that represented struggle and still do, there's probably nothing more exciting that hearing them performed live and improvised.
